Below is a list of key qualities important for building and maintaining effective workplace relationships. For each quality, reflect on your current strengths and areas for improvement. The goal is not to be perfect, but to start the process of self-awareness and identify areas for growth.

NB: I do not expect you to share details of this reflection with me – other than what you feel like. But I would like to hear some of your conclusions when we have our coaching session.

 Communication

 The ability to express thoughts clearly, listen actively, and adapt communication style to different situations.

 Emotional Intelligence

 The capacity to recognize, understand, and manage your own emotions and the emotions of others.

 Trust and Reliability

 The quality of being dependable, keeping commitments, and maintaining confidentiality.

 Conflict Resolution

 The skill to address and resolve disagreements constructively and find mutually beneficial solutions.

 Collaboration and Teamwork

 The ability to work effectively with others, contribute to group efforts, and foster a positive team environment.

 Empathy

 The capacity to understand and share the feelings of others, seeing situations from their perspective.

 Adaptability

 The flexibility to adjust to new conditions, handle change positively, and work with diverse personalities.

 Relationship Building

 The skill to initiate, develop, and maintain positive professional relationships across all levels of an organisation.

 Leadership in Relationships

 The ability to inspire, motivate, and positively influence others through your interactions and behaviour.

 Self-Awareness in Relationships

 The understanding of how your behaviour impacts others and affects team dynamics.

 Understanding of Relationship Dynamics

 The knowledge of how workplace relationships influence organisational performance, innovation, and employee engagement.

For each of these qualities, consider:

1. What are your current strengths in this area?

2. Where do you see opportunities for improvement?

3. Can you think of a specific example where you demonstrated this quality effectively?

4. Can you recall a situation where you struggled with this quality?

After reflecting on each quality, identify:

 Your top 3 relationship strengths

 3 areas you’d like to focus on improving during this course

Remember, the key idea is not to be perfect but to start the process of reflection and awareness. This self-assessment will help you set personal development goals and track your progress throughout the course.
