Sæt turbo på din personlige udvikling

April 21, 2016By Mike Hohnen

“A truly good book teaches me better than to read it. I must soon lay it down and commence living on its hint. What I began by reading, I must finish by acting”.
– Henry David Thoreau

[lang_en]Most of the management training and leadership development that you can find today is focused on “right hand” path – teaching objective, empirical and behavioural ways of knowing. But from an integral perspective developing leaders capable of operating beyond the conventional action logics must also include the left hand path, the interior “I” of the upper left quadrant and the intersubjective “we” space of the lower left quadrant. Developing post conventioal stage capacities start with awareness of interior as well as exterior realities.

Imagine 6-page PDFs and 20-minute MP3s with the “Big Ideas” of great books distilled for immediate consumption and application to your life!

Sound to good to be true?

It’s not. Take a look at this amazing offer from philosophersnotes

“A truly good book teaches me better than to read it. I must soon lay it down and commence living on its hint. What I began by reading, I must finish by acting”.
– Henry David Thoreau

A quote that is very much in tune with what we do Read also more about Integral Theory.

How much extra for nice?

September 23, 2008By Mike Hohnen

Is the question Seth Godin asks on his blog – it reminds me of a quote i once read from the HR people at South West Airlines: ” It is not technical skills we are looking for it is nice people. We can train people to do anything technical, but we can’t make them nice” .
When I conduct training’s for front line staff I ask them what in your opinion is a wow experience and when did you last have one. Invariable the same happens no matter what group I do this with: a) out of 25 – 30 people only 3-5 have had a wow service experience.
b) when I then ask them to describe in detail what is was, 9 times out of 10 the best experience always have to do with some one who was exceptionally nice – never ever do people mention the chandeliers in the reception area, the 6-foot flat screens in their room or any of the other features that are listed in a hotel brochure – always we come back to nice – my conclusion on this is: wow – what an opportunity, obviously very few people do it and it costs virtually nothing to implement – A huge opportunity indeed as Seth Godin says. I could not agree more.

Diplomleder – afslutning modul I

May 17, 2016By Mike Hohnen

Building a ???

November 9, 2007By Mike Hohnen

[lang_en]

Our group of 18 mangers studying for the Service Management Diploma met for their second workshop last week.

They are now halfway through the first module and preparing for their final assignment for this module.

Next year we shall be looking at module two: Grow Value.

We had asked each trio to prepare a presentation that would recapitulate one of the subjects that we had covered in our first workshop. This team decided to visualise the topic ‘Mindset’ – each person represents body, thought and feelings respectively and as the H.C Andersen Fairytale was read out they each illustrated these perspectives – it was a show I shall not forget soon. – Thank you !

Later in the day my colleague Lothar Friis challenged the teams on team work and problem solving – Lothar is a master at not only creating these seemingly unsolvable problems but also in converting the experience afterwards into meaningful learning.
He did that using a ‘fishbowl’ debrief of one team while the other team watched.
We had a blast as you can see.[/lang_en]

[lang_da]

Learning by doing

July 1, 2007By Mike Hohnen

[lang_en]This weekend I came across some writings by James Flaherty – author of Coaching: Evoking Excellence in Others

“… there is no knowing outside of doing: we didn’t learn to walk by someone explaining it to us; we had to practice driving to be able to do it; we learned algebra by working many problems; we can play the piano because we rehearsed for hours”

This is also the philosophy that is at the heart of the GROW: leadership program that we offer. If you would like to become a great manager/leader you will need to move from theory to application. You will need to do things and see what happens – no amount of books and reading will get you there – to really know you must first do.[/lang_en]

[lang_da]Denne weekend fald jeg over nogle skriverier af James Flaherty – forfatter af Coaching: Evoking Excellence in Others.

“… there is no knowing outside of doing: we didn’t learn to walk by someone explaining it to us; we had to practice driving to be able to do it; we learned algebra by working many problems; we can play the piano because we rehearsed for hours”.

Discovering Leadership In Groups

April 21, 2016By Mike Hohnen

I found this neat quote on the Integral Leadership Review web site

Greatness in leadership, that is, human authenticity, is not only a matter for individuals. Quite to the contrary, it is best accomplished in groups and leads therefore to in-depth group growth and to team development. Group and individual growth are systemically interrelated.

People must share with each other their experiences of authentic behavior, their inner struggles, their successes, what makes them proud, their tough decisions, and then support one another in this process of growing as a person and growing as a team.
—Peter Kostenbaum

It pretty much sums up what we do during our 12 week GROW:leadership pgms

Communicating is not as easy as we think

May 31, 2007By Mike Hohnen

We had great fun working with communication and problem solving with a group of hotel reception and booking people. How good are we at explaning to our colleagues what we have actually promised the guest? How good are we at understanding what the guest really wants? Good fun and lots of useful learning.

Komunication is not as easy as you think...

Halfway meeting – DKBS Grow:Leadership

May 23, 2007By Mike Hohnen

We have already reached the halfway point with this great group – today was the day when they present their chalengees to each other – each trio creates a work of art that illustrated what they are working on – this gang showed more creativity than we have seen in a while – great fun!

GROW leadership
